Friends of Library Wood

Thorpe Hamlet, Norwich, Norfolk, England

Library Wood is now the remnant of a piece of wooded public green space between Thorpe Road, Rosary Road and Chalk Hill Road in Thorpe Hamlet, just East of Norwich city centre, close to the railway station.

Sunshine through the leaves

Leave the city centre by Prince of Wales Road and cross the river Wensum by Foundry Bridge. Proceed straight ahead onto Thorpe Road. Library Wood is a couple of hundred yards along on your left.

There is a footpath up the West side and a road entrance at the South-eastern corner, both from Thorpe Road. Alternatively, there is an alley off Chalk Hill Road, on the right as you go uphill, near the top, and an entrance from Rosary Road in the North-eastern corner.

Unfortunately, most of these grounds have now been destroyed to make way for houses, with only a small part left for the community. See 'The Background'.
